What Comes
from Clouds

Materials for What Comes from Clouds, the Purchase College MFA Class of 2026 Thesis Exhibition series. Over the course of the spring semester, there were 4 shows presenting the work of 10 MFA candidates, three on Purchase’s campus and one culminating show at PS122 in New York. Deliverables included social media and email assets, a poster, mini bifold catalogs for the on-campus shows, signage, and one large catalog.

An initial meeting with the students helped inform three distinct direction proposals for the show branding. They leaned toward a treatment consisting of calligraphic display type and abstract washes of moody purple. I used watercolor to create these cloud-scapes, scanning them and reworking them digitally into a cohesive set of assets. Visuals evolved subtly for each show. As spring emerged, materials included more and more yellow, emulating the sun emerging through storm clouds.
